About the Makeathon

Our Makeathon will be a two-day event to foster creativity among mixed groups of staff from youth organisations, combined in international teams and facilitated by project partners, with a specific focus on artistic solutions and creative expression, as well as the use of multimedia.

Creative communication solutions to address vulnerabilities

The Makeathon will consist of a two-day event to foster creativity among mixed groups of staff from youth organisations. In this event, 30 participants will be combined into international teams and facilitated by the project partners. The emphasis will be on artistic solutions and creative expression, as well as multimedia.

The international teams will be required to make a final presentation of their “communication product” at a creative solutions conference.

This “communication product” will include (at least):

  • Media employed
  • Population targeted
  • Costs analysis
  • Development process
  • Impact indicators

The final presentations will also be streamed online.

Who can participate

We are committed to inclusivity and diversity. Our Makeathon participants are selected based on expressions of interest from members of organisations working with young people, migrants and refugees. Participation is expected from those who took advantage of the previous series of trainings and mobilities, but is open to all organisations working in Europe on awareness raising.

Beyond the Makeathon

As a final point of the MYCOMM activities, we will hold a Final Conference in Brussels (Belgium). This will be an International Youth Networking Conference as a means to consolidate links between existing networks and organisations dedicated to the inclusion of migrant/refugee youth.

JEF will host this event in autumn 2024.
