D4.1 Creative Communications Solutions for addressing vulnerabilities amongst young migrants and refugees
EXPLOITING TRAINING: CREATING A VOICE FOR YOUTH MIGRANT AND REFUGEE ORGANISATIONS
Focus of Work Package 4
Making of the Makeathon
A two-day Makeathon and a Creative Solutions Conference
The Deliverable has been led by THE RURAL HUB and KOKEN and it is the result of the Task 4.1, “Organise a Makeathon”. The activities of WP4 represent the final colophon of the entire process of capacity building done to the staff of youth organizations working with migrants and refugees. In this Deliverable it is about putting into practice the skills acquired and incorporating artistic inspiration and creative ability to develop creative communicative solutions.
The two-day Makeathon aimed to encourage creativity among mixed groups of staff from youth organizations (mostly those who have benefited from WP3 training). Thirty participants have been accepted (mostly selected from the organizations trained in the Training Series, and members of the project partners have also participated). These participants have been combined in three international teams, where the project partners have acted as facilitators. At the Makeathon, the emphasis has been placed on artistic solutions and creative expression, as well as audiovisual and multimedia.
After the Makeathon, the international teams gave a final presentation to the whole group, showing the communication products created by each team (detailing the media used, the target population, a small cost analysis, the details of the development process and impact indicators). This was done at a Creative Solutions Conference, within the framework of an artistic event attended by authorities and representatives of local, regional and departmental organisations.
Work Package 4: Exploiting training: Creating a voice for youth migrant and refugee organisations.
This work package is an opportunity for the youth organisations targeted by the training activities to employ what they have learned and co-create, further, collectively, so as to develop distinct communications products for migration and refugee policy advocacy.
It consisted of a Makeathon, a two-day event to foster creativity amongst mixed groups of youth organisation staff, combined in international teams and facilitated by project partners. It also consisted of Promotional Video Production on key issues related to young migrant and refugee inclusion and awareness for social and economic challenges and vulnerabilities.
